Solar Panel Cleaning in Tilbury

Tilbury's position as a major port town creates a distinct air quality environment. The constant movement of goods vehicles, the docks themselves, and the Thames shipping traffic generate particulate matter that settles on all outdoor surfaces — including solar panels. Panels in RM18 that go uncleaned for twelve months can show significant soiling on the active cell surface, particularly on properties near the dock road or the riverside. This soiling is often not obvious to the naked eye but consistently reduces output.

Bird activity in Tilbury is heightened by the proximity of the Thames — gulls in particular are common throughout the town and roosting on south-facing roofs is frequent. Gull droppings contain concentrated uric acid that can etch the anti-reflective coating on panel glass if not removed promptly. We clean panels using deionised pure water fed through a soft-bristle brush — the PV industry standard — with no detergent and no mechanical pressure that could damage the coating. Being locally based, we can attend quickly and are familiar with the specific challenges of cleaning panels in the Tilbury environment.
