Why Dirty Solar Panels Cost You Money
A layer of dust, bird droppings or lichen on your solar panels reduces output — sometimes significantly. Detergents and cleaning chemicals leave a residue on the glass that attracts dust and reduces light transmission. Pure water cleaning leaves the panel surface in the same condition as factory-new glass.
Safe for electronics and seals
Cleaning chemicals can attack panel frame seals and junction box housings over time. Pure water cannot chemically degrade any panel component.
Common Causes of Panel Soiling in Essex and London
Bird fouling
The most significant single source of output loss. Droppings block light to the cells beneath and, on a string-connected array, a single fouled cell reduces output from the entire string. Properties near trees, telegraph wires or commercial buildings attract more bird activity.
Lichen growth
Lichen attaches to panel glass in humid, shaded positions and cannot be removed by rain. Once established, it chemically bonds to the glass surface and reduces light transmission progressively. Early-stage lichen is far easier to remove than established colonies.

From your first call to the finished job, here is how our solar panel cleaning service works.
Tell us the number of panels, approximate roof pitch and any access restrictions. If your panels are in an unusual position or at significant height, a photograph helps us assess access equipment requirements.
We provide a fixed price per visit. Annual or bi-annual visit schedules are available at a slightly reduced per-visit rate.
We clean each panel systematically using a pure water fed pole system, removing soiling from the glass surface, frame edges and borders without stepping on the roof surface.
We photograph before and after. Any visible damage to panels, frames or wiring observed during the clean is noted and reported.
Panels are fully dry within minutes and producing at their clean-glass output level as soon as the sky conditions allow.

Annual cleaning is the standard recommendation
Most panel manufacturers recommend professional cleaning once a year. Properties near agricultural land, busy roads or with significant bird activity may benefit from cleaning every six months.
Combine with roof treatment if you have moss
If the roof around your panels has moss or algae, treated spores and debris will migrate onto the cleaned panels fairly quickly. Combining a roof biocide treatment with solar cleaning makes the results last longer.
Don't use a pressure washer on panels
High pressure can damage panel frame seals, force water into junction boxes and void panel warranties. Always use a soft brush and pure water or hire a professional.
