What We Install and Why It Matters
Frost-resistant tap
A quality brass outside tap with a ceramic disc mechanism is far more reliable than cheaper plastic alternatives. Frost-resistant designs drain the external pipe section when the tap is closed, significantly reducing the risk of freezing.
Internal isolation valve
Fitted on the supply pipe inside the property, the isolation valve lets you turn the outside tap off entirely — essential for winter shutdown, and useful if a hose connector fails. We show you exactly where it is before we leave.
Non-return (check) valve
Required by UK water regulations (WRAS), a check valve prevents water from siphoning back from a hose or watering attachment into the mains supply. Every installation we carry out includes one as standard.
Neat wall penetration
We core-drill through the external wall cleanly, seal the penetration against draughts and damp, and run the external pipe clipped neatly along the wall face to the chosen tap position. No ragged holes or exposed pipe runs.
Winter Shutdown
Even with a frost-resistant tap, shutting it down before the first hard frosts is good practice. Close the internal isolation valve, open the outside tap to drain residual water from the external pipe, then leave the outside tap open. A foam tap cover adds extra protection on exposed north- or east-facing walls. We walk you through this when we complete the installation.

All installation work carried out by Multrex Maintenance Ltd is guaranteed against defects in workmanship for 12 months from the completion date. If a fault arises from our work within this period, we will return to rectify it at no charge. This guarantee covers Multrex labour and workmanship — it does not cover customer-supplied materials found to be faulty, normal wear and tear, damage caused by misuse, or pre-existing conditions identified at the time of the job.
