What Garden Clearance Includes

Our garden clearance service covers the full range of tasks needed to bring an overgrown or neglected outdoor space back to a usable, tidy state. The exact scope depends on the condition of each garden, and we'll always confirm what's included when we quote.

Overgrown Shrubs and Hedges

Overgrown shrubs and hedges can take over a garden in a couple of seasons if left unchecked. We cut back shrubs that have outgrown their space, reducing them to a manageable size and removing the cut growth. Hedges that have grown too wide, too tall or too straggly are cut back to shape. Note that we focus on cutting back and clearance — for significant tree surgery (large limb removal, crown reductions on mature trees, stump grinding), we would recommend a specialist arborist, as this work requires specific equipment and qualifications we do not hold.

Weed and Bramble Clearance

Brambles, nettles, bindweed and other invasive weeds are among the most common garden clearance challenges. We cut them back thoroughly, remove the cut growth, and rake out surface roots where accessible. Established tap roots and rhizomes (such as those on Japanese Knotweed, which we do not treat) may regrow, so for very badly overgrown plots we often recommend a follow-up visit a few weeks later to deal with any regrowth before it establishes again.

Lawn Cutting and Grass Clearance

Very long or overgrown grass needs to be cut in stages — a standard mower will not cope with grass that has grown to knee height or above. We cut long grass with appropriate tools, reducing it to a manageable level and removing the cut material. Leaf Clearance and General Garden Debris

Accumulated leaf fall, fallen branches, general debris and garden rubbish are gathered and removed as part of a clearance. Autumn clearances are particularly popular for this reason — a one-off visit after the leaves have fallen restores a garden neatly before winter and removes the risk of slippery leaf build-up on paths and patios.

Patio and Path Clearing

Patios and paths that haven't been maintained for a season or two quickly develop moss, weeds growing through the joints, and a build-up of organic matter that makes surfaces slippery and unattractive. Shed Clearance and Garden Rubbish Removal

Sheds at void properties are frequently left with accumulated rubbish, old garden tools, broken furniture and other items abandoned by previous tenants. We clear shed contents and garden outbuildings, removing general rubbish and garden waste. All waste is disposed of responsibly — bagged and taken away from the site.

Seasonal Clearances, One-Off Visits & Commercial Grounds

Garden clearance doesn't have to be a crisis response. A planned seasonal clearance — spring and autumn — keeps a garden in manageable condition year-round and prevents the problem from accumulating. Spring clearances deal with the growth left over from winter and set the garden up for the growing season; autumn clearances deal with leaf fall and cut back dying growth before winter.

For customers who want their gardens maintained on an ongoing basis after a clearance, we offer grounds maintenance as a separate, regular service. A single clearance to bring a neglected garden back to baseline, followed by a monthly or seasonal maintenance visit, is a popular and cost-effective approach.

We also carry out grounds clearance for commercial clients — offices with neglected external spaces, retail sites with overgrown car park edges, and managed blocks of flats where communal gardens have been left unattended. Commercial clearance jobs are quoted on a site-by-site basis.

We do not carry out tree surgery, large tree felling, stump grinding or root treatment — these require specialist equipment and qualifications beyond our scope.
