Roof Cleaning in Hornchurch

Hornchurch's residential streets are characterised by larger-than-average inter-war semi-detached and detached properties, many of which have pitched roofs with clay or early concrete tiles and generous overhangs. The surrounding mature gardens and street trees provide significant shade to roof slopes for much of the year, creating the damp, low-light conditions that moss and lichen thrive in. Unlike smaller terraced properties where sunlight reaches most of the roof for parts of the day, the larger Hornchurch semis often have substantial areas of perpetual shade — and these are precisely the areas where biological growth is most established.

We cover RM11 and RM12 and use a soft-wash biocide treatment that kills moss, algae and lichen at the root without the tile damage caused by high-pressure cleaning. On the larger properties common to Hornchurch, we photograph the roof surface before and after treatment and note any areas of concern — cracked or slipped ridge tiles, damaged valley lead or mortar deterioration — so homeowners have a clear picture of their roof's condition.
