What Gets Cleaned — Inside and Out
Roof Panels (External)
The roof is the part that most homeowners can't reach — and the part that collects the most algae, green staining, bird fouling and general grime. We clean glass and polycarbonate roof panels using appropriate methods for each material.
Roof Panels (Internal)
Internal roof surfaces accumulate condensation residue, cobwebs and a general grey film over time. Cleaning the inside of the roof dramatically increases the amount of light entering the conservatory.
uPVC Frames and Ridge
uPVC frames discolour green on north-facing aspects and grey from UV exposure on south-facing ones. We clean all frames, ridge bars, hip bars and glazing bars inside and out.
Gutters and Downpipes
Conservatory gutters block quickly from moss off the main house roof. A blocked conservatory gutter overflows into the internal valley gutter. We clear gutters and flush downpipes as part of every clean.
Internal Windows and Doors
The glass walls of the conservatory are cleaned internally — including door glass, side panels and any internal dividing doors.
Base Walls and External Frames
Brick, render or composite base walls are cleaned externally where accessible. Green algae on the lower sections of the base is common and noticeably improves kerb appeal when treated.

Polycarbonate vs Glass Roofs — Different Methods
Polycarbonate Roofs
Polycarbonate panels scratch easily and degrade under high-pressure washing or abrasive cleaning. They also expand and contract significantly with temperature change, which can loosen seals if pressurised water is forced into the glazing channel. We use low-pressure soft-wash methods and dedicated polycarbonate cleaners that remove algae without scratching the surface.
Yellowing of polycarbonate panels is UV degradation rather than dirt — cleaning will not reverse discolouration that is within the material. We will advise honestly if your panels are approaching end of life and replacement should be considered.
Glass Roofs
Glass conservatory roofs are cleaned using our pure water fed pole system — the same method used for solar panels. This leaves the glass streak-free without the calcium deposits that tap water cleaning causes. Bird fouling and lichen on glass responds well to this method.
Self-cleaning glass should still be cleaned professionally when algae or bird fouling is present — the self-cleaning coating activates in UV light but does not address established biological growth. We take care not to use cleaning products that would strip the photocatalytic coating.

Annual cleaning prevents permanent staining
Green algae on polycarbonate roof panels can, if left for several years, begin to embed permanently into the surface. Annual cleaning prevents this and is far cheaper than panel replacement.
Clear the gutters every year
A conservatory's internal valley gutter is designed to handle normal rain — not a blocked external gutter overflowing into it. Keeping the gutters clear is the most important maintenance task on a conservatory.
Don't use a pressure washer on polycarbonate
High pressure can crack polycarbonate panels and force water under glazing seals. We use appropriate low-pressure methods for each surface type.
