Venetian blind replacement — Grays, Essex — old discoloured slats replaced with fresh white venetians across bay window
Bay window venetian blind replacement — discoloured slats removed, fresh white venetians installed and adjusted

The Brief

The homeowner wanted to replace yellowed, aging venetian blinds across the bay window in the lounge with new white blinds that would improve the room's appearance and provide better light control.

Initial Condition

The existing venetian blinds had discoloured significantly with age, darkening from white to yellow-grey. Several slats were bent or broken, and the cords were fraying, affecting both the look and operation of the blinds.

Issues Identified

  • Slats discoloured from white to yellow-grey due to age and sunlight exposure
  • Multiple bent and broken slats affecting the appearance of the blinds
  • Fraying cords presenting a safety and functionality concern
  • Bay window required accurate measurement across three separate sections

Our Approach

We measured each section of the bay window precisely, sourced venetian blinds in the correct widths and installed all three with clean, straight slats and fully functional tilt and lift mechanisms.

Work Completed

Three venetian blinds were measured, and installed using appropriate fixings for the window reveal. Existing brackets were removed and replaced. Cords were routed cleanly and child-safety cord cleats were fitted at an appropriate height in each section.

How We Did It

  1. 1Precise measurement of each bay window section inside the reveal
  2. 2Removal of existing blind hardware and brackets
  3. 3Fitting of new brackets at the correct positions and fixing depth
  4. 4Hanging of new venetian blinds and adjustment of the tilt mechanism
  5. 5Check of smooth raise and lower operation on each blind
  6. 6Fitting of cord cleats at appropriate heights for safe operation

Materials Used

White PVC venetian blinds (25 mm slats); mounting brackets; child-safety cord cleats.

Outcome

All three bay window sections were fitted with matching white venetian blinds that operated, tilted and adjusted correctly. The room was noticeably brighter and the window presented a clean, uniform appearance that the homeowner was very pleased with.
