The Brief
The customer needed an old, damaged shower tray removed after it began leaking. They chose to replace the enclosure with a bathtub while retaining an over-bath shower, creating a more practical bathroom arrangement.
Initial Condition
The existing shower enclosure contained a low-level tray that had become damaged and was leaking. The enclosure occupied the full width of the bathing area, with the toilet positioned immediately alongside it. The replacement therefore needed to fit the available space while working with the existing tiled walls, shower supply and bathroom layout.
Issues Identified
- Existing shower tray was damaged and allowing water to escape
- Old enclosure and tray required complete removal before the substrate and plumbing could be assessed
- Restricted bathroom footprint required accurate positioning of the replacement bath
- Bath, shower and screen had to work together without obstructing the neighbouring toilet
Our Approach
We removed the shower enclosure and leaking tray, exposing the floor and existing pipework, then installed a bath in the same bathing area. The existing shower was retained for over-bath use and a clear glass screen was fitted to complete the new arrangement.
Work Completed
The old enclosure and damaged shower tray were removed, revealing the floorboards and existing pipework. The bath was positioned in the vacated area, with bath taps and a side panel fitted. A hinged glass shower screen was installed beside the existing shower, providing both bathing and showering within the original footprint.

Outcome
